"The Cask of Amontillado"

While searching for an easy part to figure out yester-day, I noticed two small features in "The Cask of Amontillado," specifically in the line "When you're chained in the dark all alone."  "All alone" alliterates, and because there's only one initial sound, there's an illustration of that singularity.  "Alone" is sung with a melisma (Eb C D C Bb), musically giving a sense of degree (for "all").

"The Cask of Amontillado"

I listened to Tales of Mystery and Imagination this evening and noticed a small feature in "The Cask of Amontillado."  "Down below" in the line "Follow me now to the vault down below" descends (Eb D C), musically suggesting that depth.

"The Cask of Amontillado"

Backdated, archival post

---&---

I recently read Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado," so naturally I got to thinking about the APP song.  Last night I figured out the chords (although they're not really played so obviously in the original; they're more-or-less implied by the arrangements), at least most of the bass part, and I think all of the fuzz guitar part.

This is only the first half, but the second half is pretty much the same.
